If you have pets, mice can chew through dog and cat food bags easily. Place their food in storage containers with a tightly sealed lid. 

Mice will get into cabinets to find food. If you have food in your cabinet that is in boxes — such as cereals, pasta, etc. — mice can easily chew through these. Place the food in sealed storage containers instead. Wipe down your countertops at night before you go to bed and sweep the kitchen floor to remove food crumbs and other debris.
